Whether you are rooted in Iyengar® Yoga or coming from other traditions, I look forward to contributing to the evolution of your practice and studying through Yoga Unfolded.

Dear Yogis

Ciao, I’m Chiara Travisi, founder of Yoga Unfolded and of the Iyengar Yoga Institute Milan, recognized by the Ramamani Iyengar Memorial Yoga Institute (RIMYI) in Pune, India.

As a certified Iyengar® Yoga teacher, mentor, and assessor with over twenty years of experience, I guide both practitioners and teachers through rigorous, safe, and transformative learning pathways, with a strong emphasis on alignment, precision, joint and organic health.

My teaching is dedicated to fostering profound transformation, making Yoga a true practice of self-regulation, mindful awareness, and integrated care for body and mind. I am deeply committed to weaving philosophical insights into practice, while grounding my teaching in evidence-based knowledge.

I hold two Ph.D.s—one in Ecotoxicology from the University of Milan, and the other in the Economics of Cultural and Non-Market Goods from the Free University of Amsterdam, where I explored Yoga as a heritage asset—as well as a Master’s degree in Yoga Studies from Ca’ Foscari University of Venice, where I also taught. My work integrates cutting-edge scientific research, Yoga philosophy, and the phenomenology of perception, supporting students in experiencing movement as a refined interplay of body, mind, and sensory awareness.

I am the author of peer-reviewed journal articles, numerous essays on Yoga, and five volumes in the Corriere della Sera Yoga series, contributing to both academic research and accessible, high-quality dissemination.

I practice regularly in India with the Iyengar family at RIMYI in Pune, where I also assist in remedial classes. Between 2011 and 2013, I completed the three-year Iyengar® Yoga Therapy program with Stephanie Quirk, further deepening my therapeutic training with Lois Steinberg. Since 2011, I have served the Italian Iyengar Yoga Association as an examiner, teacher trainer, and member of the Exam Committee, contributing to the drafting of the UNI professional standard for Yoga teachers in Italy.

Whether you are rooted in the Iyengar® Yoga lineage —as a teacher, mentee, or student— or coming from other traditions, I look forward to meeting you and contributing to the evolution of your practice and teaching through Yoga Unfolded.

I was delighted to meet Chiara during my travels in Milan. I have been joining her online classes from Canada ever since. She is truly an excellent teacher; knowledgeable, fun and enthusiastic, creative and inspiring! As an experienced practitioner, following her online has been a great experience , she is very clear and helpful in her instruction. Thank you for offering these wonderful classes online.

I am very happy to have found Chiara Travisi and to be able to attend Chiara’s excellent classes online live. Chiara is a very intelligent, experienced and also very warm, friendly, motivating teacher who generously shares her profound knowledge of Iyengar Yoga and on the human body and mind health conditions. She is the kind of teacher that encourages you in the face of health/joints/muscles problems and gives you advice in such a way to be more and more able to help yourself. Her insights into classic Indian philosophy make her classes not only a dynamic physical and mental activity to gain overall bodily health, but gives you an idea, what practicing/studying and living YOGA actually can mean for your life. Truly thankful!
